Gonzalo López-Gallego's direction isn't confident enough to allow us to ignore The Hollow Point's contrivances.

Fails to form into a full story...viewer is left to connect the dots and just deal with the fact that it doesn't make a whole lot of sense but is mildly entertaining...also Canada is a poor substitute for the US-Mexican boarder

The is one of the best written movies I have seen for about 10 years or more. I watch a lot of movies and I could not guess what was going to happen at all. In fact this movie genuinely shocked me at certain points with it's plot twists. All of the tired Hollywood tropes we are used to are completely obliterated in this movie. Main characters are under genuine threat. The story flows equally through several characters. The baddie is a genuinely scary and fearsome character who had me in mind of the T1000 from Terminator 2. The characters are all fully formed characters who seem believeable as real people away from the time line of the movie. There is great dialouge in this movie and it is persistent throughout. There also some great music tracks in this movie. The movie is paced well, perhaps slightly on the slow side but this only serves to keep the viewer engrossed right until the last. Excellent movie.

Within this uncertain world, Lopéz-Gallego relishes such noir staples as fatalistic shadows, eruptive mayhem and terse, ironic dialogue. But he and his cinematographer, Jose David Montero, also carve out fresh visual territory.

It had potential to be a competent and interesting thriller, but the director completely forgot how important editing scenes truly is. Massive plot holes, with no real pacing of a coherent story, and some lousy dialogue, will keep your viewing experience troubled and your mind venturing off this mess.
