Very cool, very fun movie. A lot like an 80's slasher movie. Dan Stevens is a great actor.

Excellent movie. The Guest draws us in from the beginning with the intriguing character of David, who we never fully trust but yet come to want to be friends with at the same time. The style is sleek, the screenplay is smart and well-written, the film's score by Steve Moore is an incredible blend that's reminiscent of It Follows and Halloween, and the performances are incredible, especially Stevens as the lead character David, and Monroe as the girl who never trusts The Guest from the beginning.

The movie is a bit slow at first, but you always have this weird vibe from David that slowly starts to make sense as the movie goes on, which is what keeps you on edge.

Boasting a fitting and exciting sound track, 'The Guest' captive my attention for all 1 hour and 39 minutes of it's play time. Admittedly, a good 36 of those minutes were spent captivated by Dan Steven's rugged good looks and "Badass" attitude. The film explores many subtle themes-- while the central plot fits effectively into the 'Thriller' mould, sub-plots further explore issues as varied as Familial Disagreement, bullying, and drug abuse. The soundtrack that I just previously lauded forgoes the typically string-and-percussion trope of thriller films, instead choosing a hybrid of late 70's british New Wave and Analogue Techno. As a musician, I found the way the soundtrack was woven into the thematic development quite satisfying: at one point, a character creates a "mix" of OST songs for the lead character. Exciting, Cerebral, Engaging, Sexy are all adjectives that I would use to describe any of the scenes from Adam Wingard's "The Guest". Five. Stars.
