McKean's film deserves to be watched if only to marvel at the performance of Sheen and the epic scale of the production which gave birth to this misguided collaboration of theatre and cinema.

There is a raw, primitive response to Christ in this film, despite all its community theatre window-dressing. I loved its spirit of a fanfare.
