Amazing Film! Soumitra Chatterjee did a excellent job of private detective!

Sonar Kella" is the first film made by Satyajit Ray based on the adventures of his private detective Feluda.(Soumitra Chatterjee\Prodosh Mitter).Mukul, a young boy, is haunted by his past experiences(his previous life). When his father takes him to a renowed psychoanalyst, he studies the boy's drawings and believes the sketches depict the Indian Province of Rajasthan. He also suggests taking the boy there. Meanwhile 2 robbers get to know about this boy and believe that he could lead them to a treasure that they have been hunting for a long time. They kidnap Mukul and now, Feluda (Soumitra Chatterjee) must bring back the boy and solve the mystery.I suggest all must see this film of Satyajit Ray!!!

Ray's first "Felunath" detective story (the other one being Joi Baba Felunath) is a real hoot. Suprisingly suspenseful and exciting with fairly intricate plotting and engaging characters. Some of the humor was lost on me because it depended on linguistic oddities, but for the most part it works beautifully. Not a typical Ray film by any means (except for Soumitra Chatterjee), but a fun one.

It is one of the best Bengali movies of all time, great story, excellent performance by Soumitra Chatterjee and the whole cast. Direction by Satyajit Ray is unquestionable. A very good movie indeed.
