The idea of imitating X-Men in a Chinese wuxia context is interesting enough, but the lackluster storytelling and the wrong focus on the confusing and weepy "love triangle" (instead of each character, which desperately need background build-up and personality differentiation) almost killed the film for good. Hope the sequel will be better, which is not a difficult task considering the quality of the its predecessor :))

X-Men? LOTR? Wolfman? Plus one sloppy screenplay to drag into part 2.

There are a lot of things to like about this movie, the cinematography was first rate, the locales were beautiful, the action scenes were very well done, the acting was not bad.....an enjoyable martial arts/fantasy movie and as already reported, this movie is now the first part of a trilogy, and that the sequels have already begun shooting....

What's scarier than a Werewolf? A Werewolf with a sword and knows martial arts! That's not just what this movie is about...but isn't that enough for you?
