The Electric Horseman (1979)

A former champion rodeo rider is reduced to using his saddle skills to promote a breakfast cereal in a gaudy Las Vegas show. When he's asked to perform with a $12 million horse, he discovers it is being doped to remain docile. He flees into the desert astride the beast in an act of defiance. "I grew up gettin' up" One of my favourite kind of stories is about a lone man and the road. I've wanted to see this film for years, and i really enjoyed it. Robert Redford is great in this role, and Willie Nelson's lyrics and music puts a stamp on it! It's an all American tale set in the west about a modern cowboy and rodeo star who rather than becomes a Las Vegas star, saves a horse's life by stealing it and going on the run. A man and the road! Loved it!

The Electric Horseman sort-of succeeds as an ode to individualism with a modern cowboy who makes a stand against a corporation and a New York reporter who loves her career above all else.

In my top 10 of all time great romances. Redford and Fonda at their best. AND it holds up to time. If you like romantic comedires with a bit of intelligence, this is a must see.

Oldie but goodie - starring Robert Redford as an adorable cowboy, one of the roles I love him most in. He plays the "down-to-earth with hidden complexities" so well and I always enjoy his performances. The story was great - funny, sweet, honorable. The ending left a little to be desired, but that's just my Hollywood romance expectations talking. Besides, who can't love a movie with Robert Redford sporting a purple flashing light-up outfit?
