The mysterious murder of a US senator bearing the distinctive trademark of the legendary Soviet assassin 'Cassius', forces retired CIA operative, Paul Shepherson to team with rookie FBI agent, Ben Geary to solve the crime. Having spent his career chasing Cassius, Shepherdson is convinced his nemesis is long dead, but is pushed to take on the case by his former supervisor, Tom Highland. Geary, who wrote his Master's thesis on Shepherdson's pursuit of the Soviet killer, is certain that Cassius has resurfaced.

The trailer is factual and misleading. It DOES NOT tell the story. Good spy movie with some good twists.

I almost didn't see it, due to the RT rating, but I saw i because all the viewers reviews were good. Rightly so. Excellent entertainment. Worth seeing.

A story surrounding a CIA agent (Richard Gere) who was brought out of retirement to help on a case that was thought to have been closed. Along the ride we are introduced to a very excited FBI agent (Topher Grace) who has dedicated his entire career to the killer that is being brought to question for the murder at hand. We are dragged through the underworld of Russian spies living on American soil and we learn some things are not what they seem. I cannot say enough positive things about this movie. Richard Gere delivers a wonderful performance in a role that I have never seen him in before. I was sitting at the edge of my seat the entire time wondering where the next hit was going to come from. This is something that is a must see for anyone that wants to be taken on a ride.

I can see where the criticism of this movie playing its hand poorly comes from. And certainly, I would have made a few different choices in regards to specific storytelling choices and pacing. But overall, it's a spy thriller that held my attention and kept me asking questions throughout. It made me think more about motivation than who was going to shoot who, and that's a success. This is not a Bond movie, but I think it is more than worth a watch if you like a reasonably realistic intelligence film.
