The scenes with Black Flag (especially when Ron Reyes is showing off the closet he lives in and when Chuck Dukowski is talking about getting a psychology degree and "zapping drugs into people's brains") are fantastic. Actually watching Darby Crash in action is unforgettable as well.

A shrewd and engrossing documentary even for audiences who have absolutely no patience for the music it includes.

Perfectly captures the self destructive nihilism of the late 70s punk movement through interviews and great performances by X, Fear, Black Flag, The Circle Jerks, Alice Bag Band, Catholic Discipline, and the Germs. Especially fascinating is watching interview and performances with Darby Crash of The Germs, in the months prior to his suicide. A powerful document of a moment in time.

The DVD? Please? Someone put this out on DVD. West Coast Punk at its finest. One of the best documentaries on Punk Rock. As good or better than The Filth and The Fury

Highly recommended for you
