Wolpert and Reynolds seem to be aiming for the ''Titantic'' audience at the expense of sophistication and historical relevance. It's too bad. The able cast, not to mention Alexandre Dumas, deserves better.

Reynolds, working in close harmony with cinematographer Andrew Dunn (Gosford Park), brings an infectious brio and an occasional sweeping grace to the classic trappings of Dumas.

While the scriptwriters took some liberties with the Dumas classic (and keeping in mind that no novel can translate perfectly to film), this version does an excellent job of telling a story that honors the original while making it accessible to younger audiences. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and have re-watched it several times.

Kept me on the edge of my seat and a dashing performance by Caviezel and Pearce. Want to see more of Caviezel. This is one I will buy for my library.

An epic tale of adventure, betrayal, love and revenge. There really is something here for everyone. Jim Caviezel, one of the most underrated actors of the past decade, delivered a superb performance in this film. This is my favorite movie of all time, so pardon the perfect score.
