The Color of Money (1986)

Former pool hustler "Fast Eddie" Felson decides he wants to return to the game by taking a pupil. He meets talented but green Vincent Lauria and proposes a partnership. As they tour pool halls, Eddie teaches Vincent the tricks of scamming, but he eventually grows frustrated with Vincent's showboat antics, leading to an argument and a falling-out. Eddie takes up playing again and soon crosses paths with Vincent as an opponent.

Scorsese's comeback film, this sequel to The Hustler is dramatically and visually exciting. I've heard tell (and suspect myself) that Newman won the Oscar for this as a belated Oscar for the Verdict, and that's hung over this flm's head unjustly. This is must see cinema.

I tend to like the not to popular Scorsese films, 2nd favorite Scorsese film, of course another one that no one knows or cares about. To me this is film making 101, I like it when Marty tries to do innovative things with the camera stuff you don't see too often. I actually like this more than The Hustler that it's a sequel to. This is one of the films I watch when I need the inspiration gears greased a bit, if I could make a movie as good as this in my life time then I would die a happy man. Acting prefect even with Tom, direction top notch, cinematography is drool worthy, editing is awesome. Perfect movie. If I watched this movie as a kid I would've been less likely let my parents sell the pool table we had downstairs.

That its inferior to the original goes without saying but paul newman and tom cruise are a joy to watch and typically superb

Awesome. Finally got to see this all the way through. Kept thinking of the 'Kingpin' parodies al the way though it though....brill.
