The Color of Money (1986)

Former pool hustler "Fast Eddie" Felson decides he wants to return to the game by taking a pupil. He meets talented but green Vincent Lauria and proposes a partnership. As they tour pool halls, Eddie teaches Vincent the tricks of scamming, but he eventually grows frustrated with Vincent's showboat antics, leading to an argument and a falling-out. Eddie takes up playing again and soon crosses paths with Vincent as an opponent.

I could possibly give every Martin Scorsese movie a 100 % rating. The Color of Money is another movie to add to the list. This movie has no violence, no action, just regular pool playing. To me, it's a relaxing movie. A movie that I can just sit down/lay down, whichever, and enjoy. Its got a great cast with Paul Newman, Tom Cruise, and John Tuturro. Thats one thing that makes a great movie, and it's the cast. Solid story, and great music. Many people would probably find this movie boring, probably not many people have heard about it. But it's a very enjoyable movie to me. A movie I love watching over and over again.

One of the best sequels of all time that does what a good sequel should do; better the original. The original film - The Hustler, saw ?Fast Eddie? make a name for himself by taking on Minnesota Fats and beating him at his best game of pool. This film sees the ageing pool shark/con man, semi retired and half heartedly dealing cheap whiskey, take on a young apprentice named Vince who he feels can squeeze a few last scores out of him on the road. A great cast, inspired camera work and a thrilling soundtrack make this not only the best movie of its genre for its time but also the best movie of its genre ever.
