Really peculiar movie - very interesting and a little disturbing. One of Terence Stamp's early performances.

Really enjoyed this film, with the young Terence Stamp doing a great job. Remains quite true to the equally compelling John Fowler novel.

A solid and faithful adaptation of a great novel. Despite some doubts, Terence Stamp was perfect for the role of Clegg, and seemed to perfectly portray the character's mannerisms as described in the novel. The film does remove Miranda's back story, so her character is not as well portrayed, but then I suppose that re-enforces the theme of her being captured for her physical beauty and not her personality, etcetera etcetera, I won't go on. It's a good'un.

Although there are moments of great direction in this film - this film drags along at a snails pace and ends with a thud. The script has holes galore - but some great shots and a tour de force of acting, especially by Eggar deserve some comment.
