Touching and heartbreaking, while still maintaining an ability of being realistic. I believe they presented some issues that are often brushed away from society and they added some different points of view to controversial subjects. It was a beautiful film.

I think that is was a great film, and the lighting helped in setting the mood in the film. The soft lighting showed a calm and relaxed environment at the orphanage. The costumes of the characters helped to set the time frame that the film had taken place. I defiantly recommend it for viewing.

I think if I were to have seen this film before I read the novel it was adapted from, I would have considered it a masterpiece of sorts. Certainly not like other brilliant films, but still great. Alas, I did not. It took me 3 weeks, but I read the entire novel before I watched the movie. There is so much story, so much plot, and so many characters that are simply left out of the film. I do understand the reasons, but I was missing a lot from the book. But, as I said, I did enjoy the film. The acting was great and the direction great.

"Goodnight, you princes of Maine. You kings of New England. " Very great drama, too bad it had to contend against american beauty, green mile, sixth sense and the insider for best picture, but this film had an amazing shot, it is a film that is obviously able to contend against thoses movies, Caine is just amazing, and i recommend it to people who love a good drama.
