The Cake Eaters (2007)

The death of the Kimbrough family matriarch affects the three male survivors of the clan. Widower Easy tries to reconnect with his old flame, Marg. Eldest son and struggling musician Guy moves back to town, feeling guilty that he missed the funeral. His brother, Beagle, who was his mother's caretaker, falls for Marg's granddaughter, Georgia, a chronically ill girl who fears her time is growing short.

I enjoyed it, although the ending seemed incomplete.

In true indie style this movie leaves you thinking. Deceptively slow moving, this film shows a slice of life without any resolution. The acting ensemble was strong with each actor delivering nuanced performances. I loved getting to see Jesse Martin in another empathetic role. Absolutely incredible performance by Kristen Stewart.

Great movie...a little slow maybe for some, but I call it "thoughtful"... great acting and character development. Kristen Stewart from Twilight is nearly unrecognizable..have questioned how good her acting is until I saw this one. Movie left me a little sad but still worth the watch..about family, missed opportunities and making the most of the time you have with those you love.

Haven't seen the entire movie, but what I thought was going to be kind of slow and boring turned out (once I flipped back to it) to be an intelligent, hearfelt story acted with competence and downright skill on the part of Kristen Stewart and Bruce Dern.

The plot was a little boring but such a wonderful performance from Kristen stewart!!! THis PROVES she has acting skills
