The classic story of English POWs in Burma forced to build a bridge to aid the war effort of their Japanese captors. The greatest war film of all time. Deserved every award it was nominated for.

A fantastic commentary on war and human nature that must be understood in the context of 1957, that is 12 years removed from World War II and 4 years removed from Korea. Clearly a piece expressing the views of a society tired of war. Shot on location, and with a classic cast to boot, "Bridge" is a must see.

Brilliantly written and character-rich war film that goes far beyond the bullets and explosions and captivatingly displays multiple perspectives of men all standing up for their honor in different ways. How they all come together throughout the film and into the tense ending is nothing short of a masterpiece.

if you lilke this check out director david mclean's next film and next collaboration with Alec Guiness "Lawrence of Arabia". another great film. but be wary of how long the film is and it is LONG

Very good. Saw again years later and I kept watching to see what would happen next even though I knew what would happen! It's that good. The payoff at the end is worth the wait.
