My aunt had recommended this movie and I expected it to be somewhat 'dated', but after reading about how it was 1969 when the beginning of the whole rainbow culture started, I wanted to check this out. It came across as much more accessible and well written than I expected. I would chalk it up under a historical vignette that captured a slice of time, 'as it was', plus some good acting and intelligent dialogue.

I'm so glad they showed this on Turner Classic Movies otherwise I doubt I would have ever heard about it. I loved the dialogue and all the actors were fantastic.

An iconic and landmark entry in the queer cinema genré, made with care and solidly acted by a troupe of performers that had perfected their characters on stage (a number of which, interestingly, went on to succumb to the HIV/AIDS virus). A fun and heartfelt film.
