Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. However pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

Apesar de ficção, assim como Pulp Fiction, foi retirado de um livro de bolso, muito bem feito, testa o carater das pessoas, Cameron Diaz mandou muito bem com o defeito no pé de sua personagem. Devemos assistir.

You should be aware of Richard Kelly's style before watching this. This is essentially the weirdness of Donnie Darko supersized. The movie starts as a morality play but soon brings aliens and surreal dreamscapes into the mix. The movie does not make sense until the very end but it eventually does, so my advice is to just strap in and enjoy the ride.

A lot of people I know don't like this film. That just means a lot of people I know weren't capable of appreciating such a masterpiece.

This is a great existential film that is not for the big box sci-fi fans who like big FX and minimal plot. This film is not what it seems and for that, I thank the artists who made it! It was beautifully edited in such a way that forces the viewer to look at it as more than what it seems. For anyone who loves Jean Paul Sartre, you'll love the eccentricity, detail, intrigue, and suspense. It's far more than just a box, it's a metaphor for whatever you want it to be.

I love movies that make you think and sometimes say WTF. Richard Kelly, who made one of my favorite movies Donnie Darko, seems to bend over backwards to do just this in everything with his name on it. This movie isn't perfect, but I was completely GLUED to the story as it unraveled and so emotionally satisfied by the credits that I watched it two more times before I deleted it from my DVR. If you love science fiction, I suggest you try it out the next time it runs on HBO/Showtime HD...
