An great whodunit, classic noir, with screenplay by Raymond Chandler and marvelous chemistry between the leads.

The story of a man who must prove his innocence in a murder case. It's a story you've seen before, but this movie is enjoyable anyway.

A dull, tepid film noir where it becomes hard to care for the outcome. The performances are wooden, the dialogue is dull and the plotline completely without excitement. Despite the pace picking up for the final segment, this is still a real demonstration on how not to do a Chandler piece.
