The Big Picture (1989)

Hollywood beckons for recent film school grad Nick Chapman, who is out to capitalize on the momentum from his national award-winning student film. One of the smartest and funniest films of the year, at least for those who care about its subject. Every regular filmgoer should. Through the story of a talented but naive film school graduate (Kevin Bacon`s Nick Chapman) who suddenly becomes the hottest property in Hollywood, Guest assembles a deadly accurate sociology of the contemporary film industry-and its accuracy makes The Big Picture both hilarious and terrifying.

A genial and funny satire/comedy about an up-and-coming student filmmaker.

Ralph Novak 02 Feb 2016

Partly romance, partly fantasy, partly satire on what passes for life in Hollywood -- and all charm -- this movie even has a perfect title.

Hampton F 06 Jan 2018

Christopher Guest's Hollywood comedy is funny but predictable.

I like seeing a filmmaker having his work tinkered with by the studios but I can't completely relate to it.
