Hollywood beckons for recent film school grad Nick Chapman, who is out to capitalize on the momentum from his national award-winning student film. Studio executive Allen Habel seduces Nick with a dream deal to make his first feature, but once production gets rolling, corporate reality begins to intervene: Nick is unable to control a series of compromises to his high-minded vision, and it's all he can do to maintain his integrity in the midst of filmmaking chaos.

I am one hell of a Christopher Guest fan, but I have to say that his mockumentaries, are really his jive. This film was funny at times, though it didn't really work all the way through. I liked the goofy score, and the his imagination when it came to the real life scenes, that he envisioned as film. Other than that it wasn't too great.

decent spoof of hollywood. Lots of inside jokes. First Guest directed film.

Boring and not funny. Spoofs many aspects of Hollywood, but there are better films that do this.

an eighties comedy that allows kevin bacon to shine in a role that was mostly given to michael j fox. clever take on the film industry and some memorable scenes. a favourite of my since my first viewing and one film i have been awaiting in australian r4 for quite a while.

Not remarkable in any way, this is an invitation to the Hollywood world and a story how movie business is done. A young aspiring movie director wins a prise for his short, and gets an invitation to film a major movie, everybody imposes their views on him and makes him change the main characters, script, camera man, actors, and also betray all of his friends, break up with his his girlfriend, until, one day the whole thing fails and he loses prospects for a promising career and shatters his personal life. He starts anew, asks his friends of forgiveness, help them film a music video and leaves for a long vacation with his former girlfriend. The music video brings him back to the focus of the movie industry, and as he is not available on the phone, his popularity starts to build up progressively. By the time he comes back, he is the most wanted man in Hollywood, only this time he wants to stay true to his convictions. Rather an obvious idea spread for one hour and a half with a rather poor performance of the actors.
