A group of LA twenty-somethings are lured out of the city and out into the wilderness in search of a rave, a hot girl, and good times. Instead, they encounter an ancient evil; a demon capable of possessing humans. As the demon passes through the group, each becomes both killer and victim. As their numbers dwindle the question arises: can they stop this malevolent spirit from spreading or will his power be to great for them?

mild british post war horror, interesting but nit scary. think the others crossed with sixth sense.

Murphy shows tremendous skill with genre elements, helping The Awakening to overcome its formulaic origins, keeping attention on panic and skepticism, not just on cheap thrills.

Some Nice Creepy Moments In This Well-Made Supernatural Thriller. It's 1921 & England Is Overwhelmed By The Loss & Grief Of The First World War. Hoax Exposer Florence Cathcart Visits A Boarding School School To Explain Sightings Of A Child Ghost. Everything She Knew Unravels As The "Missing" Begin To Show Themselves. A Nicely Made Thriller, With A Great Atmosphere, Script & Story.

Mallory: "There have been other sightings. The boys believe.." Cathcart: "Boys believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. I'm sure some of them even believe in God." There will come a time in your life when you question the things that you perceive.. Are they factual, or just a figment of your imagination.. "The Awakening" plays on those ideas and gives us a fine compelling post-war ghost story. The setting is so uncanny that every turn, somehow makes you prying for the jumpshock. The direction is fast-paced considering movies like these. It's a shocker! The Performances are pretty strapping specially Rebecca Hall. She's phenomenal! Overall, a pretty good post-war ghost story that has something to proffer. On the same level with, Sixth Sense and The Others. 4 out of 5 stars! :)
