The Amityville Haunting (2011)

This movie is a 'found-footage' film about the Benson family who move in to the infamous house where the DeFeo family were murdered in the 1970s over 30 years earlier. Things start happening to anyone who visits this house, and whoever lives there. This is the footage retrieved from the camera.

Kind of like the last Exorcist, it's a documentary, but this one not even worth a little watch... Bored... Everytime there was screaming, I was like ?! What ? Oh yeah, I'm watching a horror movie ! Oh, too late, missed the action!

Horrible acting. The blood looked like gel. I can't do this one.

An embarrassing plot, and a lame excuse for a film, let alone an entry into the Amityville franchise. The CG effects are pathetic and would have required all of five minutes in Flash to make, and the "acting" is utterly terrible. The plot is ridiculously predictable, the dialogue is stilted and poorly delivered and the climax entirely laughable. Avoid at all costs, even if you're an Amityville fan--the connection is all but nonexistent.

"Found Footage" movie strikes again. This time a family moves into a cheap house and discovers an evil presence that leaves doors open. Elongated annoying scenes pad the running time. Apparently they saved money by not giving acting lessons. I did find myself cheering on the parents when they kept telling the son (unsuccessfully) to stop recording. And why was he recording all of this? He kept whining about some documentary... that apparently has something to do with taking long boring scenes of moving men moving boxes and "secretly" taping his sister coming out of a shower in a towel, the films creepiest scene (while "hiding" in a closet with the door almost open half way).

Oh boy, the series now borrowed a page from the success of Paranormal Activity and applied paranormal investigation to the Amityville House... Although I think the series should have explored this particular area earlier, to do it now meant it needed to be done well... Unfortunately this film totally failed to deliver. Terrible acting, a really dull story, lousy effects and quite frankly a pointless effort.
