Instead of tension and thrills, there's just a bunch of clichés and an overwhelming sense of déjà vu.

A single half-hearted idea of interest thrown in at the end isn't enough to save Amityville Awakening from the heaps of other problems it faces. Having now seen it, the 3 years of delays concluding with a free release on youtube, approved by the Weinstein's after recent sex scandal coverage, I couldn't think of a more fitting conclusion to an unwarranted horror sequel.

Maybe the cast is bearable but the movie is a great swamp. No idea to revive the main theme. Hopeless effects and equally hopeless scenario. Unfortunately, I did not like it.

this movie gave me a good amount of entertainment, some good scares and creepiness. there is also a bunch of really dumb moments and things you can make fun of, things that make no sense. and the movie is poorly made, with terrible dialogue and weird editing (one moment made me throw my hands up, a stabbing scene immediately cuts to the outside of the house and then returns once the stabbing is done. maybe it was originally supposed to be rated R, but that was so glaring and terrible) (i looked it up, it was originally R until they re-submitted a milder version to be pg-13. despicable. i think all 15 previous movies in this series are rated R) (1 viewing)
