That's My Boy (1951)

Jack Jackson, the greatest football player in Ridgefield College history, is disappointed that his only son Junior is an uncoordinated, allergy-ridden bookworm. He uses his athletic reputation and standing as #1 alumni contributor to pressure the coach to take Junior onto the team. In addition, he pays the tuition of Junior's financially needy classmate Bill Baker, a potential all-American, with the understanding that he will room with Junior and mentor him athletically and socially. Junior's initial efforts as quarterback prove disastrous and further complications arise when the room mates both fall in love with the same co-ed.

I forgot to make a point of writing something about this movie online. That's My Boy was hilarious, I laughed through the whole thing and it'll probably turn out to be a cult hit like Grandma's Boy. Great cast, tons of funny lines, and great acting/characterization by Adam Sandler. Someone, apparently, knows how to write comedy, unlike Apatow's regular cast of fools, or Will Ferrell these days. Who knew Sandler actually still had it? He plays his character so well during the whole film I hardly know it was him. It was so good I could even forgive Andy Samberg.I do admit I'm an old school Sandler fan, and love old SNL, but I think this movie was objectively one of the better of his movies I've seen in a long while. i. cOULD. nOT.sTOP.lAUGHING.sERIOUS. just based on this one I'm gonna' have to go back and watch that one where he's an Israeli Secret Agent... or not. :/

Dark humor, but that's what makes it hysterical!

One of my favorite comedies ever! of course it's a little goofy and a typical sandler movie, but the humor is funny from start to finish.

If you thought Sandler was great in Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore, then this is the return-to-form comedy you've been waiting for...if not, what are you even doing watching an Adam Sandler movie in the first place? Don't let the sense-of-humorless critics or tomatometer fool you, this is as funny as "Ted" was supposed to be...

I thought I was going to be very disappointed, but I liked it. It was very funny and I enjoyed the story, as ridiculous it was. Many laugh out loud moments. 5/5
