If an older actor were looking for a great valedictory role, it would be tough to top Abner Meecham, and Holbrook, 83, makes the most of it.

Very good movie - you are never quite sure what is going to happen next. Excellent supporting characters (Ray McKinnon is particularly disturbing). This movie would be fun to discuss with a group because there are potentially different interpretations to several situations.

It's hard to believe, but Hal Holbrook, one of the stage and screen's enduring talents, has never had the solo lead in a feature film. That has been duly rectified with the actor's achingly memorable star performance in the superb That Evening Sun.

I really hope this movie finds distribution (and I'm fairly confident it will) because it was amazing. Hal Holbrook gives an outstanding performance. So does Ray McKinnon and Carrie Preston. It was also beautifully shot and very well written and directed. I can't wait to see it again once it gets distribution.
