Tequila Sunrise (1988)

In a seaside California town, best friends Mac and Nick are on opposite sides of the law. Mac is a former drug dealer trying to clean up his act, while Nick is a high-profile detective trying to take down a Mexican drug lord named Carlos. Soon Nick's loyalties are put to the test when he begins an affair with restaurateur Jo Ann -- a love interest of Mac's -- unwittingly leading his friend into a police-orchestrated trap.

Russell and Gibson are good in this, but Raul Julia is awesome.

I was recommended this movie and I surely won't let anyone else suffer through it, like I did. Could there have been a crappier cast..... NO. This is the worst there is. Mel Gibson is definitely not my favourite, since he is a jew hater, and just because he is an overall BAD ACTOR in most of his movies. Maybe I shouldn't even refer to him as an actor, maybe just a sleezeball. But I shouldn't let just his performance make the movie bad for me. Raul Julia was pretty good (reason why someone recommended to me, cause they liked Raul Julia). I have no problem with Robert Towne, but it amazed me how someone who WROTE CHINATOWN, could have failed miserably with this film. Who ever came up with the idea to even make a movie about this, I don't know, they just shouldn't want to meet me in a dark alley at night.

I know this movie is dated but i really like it. In this movie, Mel Gibson shows the meaning of being cool and smooth operator. I must give high score just because reminds me of 80s good times, and also great cast. This film is all about what was great about the 80's, it has it's own style. I admit it's not one for challenging your intellect, but it is fun, honest and above all well acted. Great scenery, great story.
