Tears of April (2008)

There is civil war in Finland between "Whites" and "Reds". A woman soldier of the Reds is captured by the Whites. She is ordered to be executed. A lieutenant is enforced into a homosexual relationship with his commanding officer to save the Red female with whom he is infatuated.

Visually beautiful film with well-played characters.

Good potential but some weaknesses in the cutting and editing of scenes brought down the vibe. Also there were some unnecessary things crammed into the story that could've well been left out to make the overall film tighter.

Not quite as deep and lyrically beautiful as the novel, this adaptation comes close enough. Beautiful cinematography and extremely strong, involved acting by all of the cast make this a truly interesting piece of cinema. Politically fascinating, and even more intriquing on the level of psychology.

Varimaailma valkea kuin lumi. Paahenkilot myos vaaleita. Valkovuokkojakin jopa loytyy. Hohhoijaa naita alleviivattuja viittauksia. Leffa on kaunis ja taynna panoraamakuvia, mutta kolisee ontouttaan.
