Real life events have caught up with Bogdanovich's film, giving it a resonance no one could have imagined in 1968.

bogdanovich's first film. karloff is amazing--he plays an aging actor of cheesy low-budget horror pics who's had enough. his reason: no one is scared of monsters these days, for there are monsters out there with guns. thus, this film is probably my most important thematic influence.
