Cracking portmanteau horror from the Amicus stable, filmed at Shepperton Studios. The first segment with Joan Collins and the homicidal Santa is the one that sticks most in the memory but all five stories are good, with some fine British actors of a 70s vintage strutting their stuff. Sir Ralph Richardson overplays his linking role as the crypt keeper to a quite startling degree. The character of Major Rogers, the callous superintendent of a home for the blind who lets his residents starve and freeze to death, reminded me strangely of David Cameron, our dear prime minister and current tormentor-in-chief. I sincerely hope that a similar fate to Rogers befalls Dave and that he gets chased down a narrow corridor lined with razor blades very soon. If you needed any more convincing to watch this splendid film, there's exquisite 70s decor and hair on display throughout! :-)

Great anthology from the 70's. All the stories were good.

One of the classic horror movies of our time, nothing can compare to TFTC. Today's horrors just dont match up to the style and writing of this creepy flick. The stories are truely horrifying in their nature, the cast is excellent and the writing is extremely well done-not over the top or underdone. There's no comparison!:fresh:

This is one of the best horror anthology films ever. It's no Kwaidan but it's a lot of fun. I especially liked "Blind Alleys" and "Poetic Justice". THose were great stories. Well done for Amicus.

Great horror anthology. Kind of feels like a Hammer Film.
