It is enchanting in parts but falls far short of becoming their sum.

Sort of the reminded me of that Jim Henson Storyteller show only without a narrator and more mature. Some nice parts but doesn't really come together to make a complete compelling picture.

Wow! I'd never heard of Basile's fairy tales before but now that I have I want to know more. What a sumptuous, spellbinding, dark feast for the eyes and the soul! Some images and sounds will stay with me for a very long time. Nothing like the fairy tale fare we are usually served up, these fairytales are violent in the extreme and the usual clear cut distinction between good and evil characters just isn't there. Definitely not for children.

superb. some the earliest known "fairy tales" mostly of Italian orgin masterfully told. .....the way they were! !!....violent and warped. ...just like the time they were written in the 14-15th century.

I really loved this movie. So well done. costume, sets and creatures are flawless. It is really nice to see people using special effects instead of computer graphics for everything.
