The film moves quite easily from bittersweet tones to feel-good larkiness, in jaunty but formulaic style.

What it needs is writing worthy of Brydon's talents, giving the main attraction a cinematic playground to explore, not a yellow line of cliché to follow.

Feel-good is declared the winning tone within minutes. The rest of the film is just splashing around in the shallow end.

I rather enjoyed this movie - it's a pretty gentle comedy. It's all been done before but Rob Brydon is watchable. The ending was very overcooked and there is a side story with a love interest with an 18 year age gap between actors which felt shoe-horned in. Overall a fun, derivative, very British but un-challenging film.

Just back from seeing Swimming with Men & myself, plus all folks in my showing found it to be laugh out loud good. Been a long time since I've seen such a purely enjoyable, not taking itself too seriously, British comedy film. I recommend a viewing!! Cast are great, and love the addition of the real Swedish team.
