The days leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, Georges Seurat is struggling to make meaningful art and maintaining a relationship with his lover, Dot. Amid the scorn of the artistic community, Seurat's artistic ability thrives while his love diminishes. A century later, Seurat's descendant – named George and also an artist – finds himself burnt out and in search of what artistic path to follow, but he finds the answer to his future in the past.

It's all about connection, being an artist, being a human-type person. And Mandy gets a beard *and* Tight Pants.

I like Sweeney Todd better, but very interesting. Patinkin is great, and I liked Bernadette Peters a lot. Loved "Sunday in the Park with George," "Finishing the Hat," and for some reason, "Everybody Loves Louis." And the opening number of Act II ("It's Hot Up Here"). Didn't like the beginning of Act II ("chromolume?"), but it got better. Overall, the score is great. Thought the American characters were pretty funny. The passion that went into every aspect of the show is obvious, and I like that.

Gorgeous, superb acting, flawless really. It really made me feel. I am an artist myself, and I could relate on a personal level to the character(s). This was brilliant, Sondheim is a genus. The music is so great- so meaningful. Art, love, relationships, humanity, sacrifice, beauty and change are the components to this wonderful show. WHY DONT THEY TAPE MORE MUSICALS?!

It says something many people find hard to take- Artists can be disconnected and aloof from their surroundings, but it's okay because they create great art. It isn't hard for me to take that, though. Outstanding work from Sondheim, Lapine, Peters and Mandy Patinkin, in the performance of his carreer.

I love this musical. Stephen Sondheim is a creative genious. Who else would have thought to create a musical about this? This is also on Eric's top ten Musicals list.
