[b]VHS [/b]Second Viewing, 8 Linklater films seen I think this is my least favorite Linklater film. But I think [i]subUrbi@ [/i]leaves you with the exact feeling he wanted. It is an empty, unforgiving comedy about the "so-called American privileged." These "slackers" waste their lives sitting outside 7-11 type stores while the owners (many of which are immigrants) work their butts off.

Mr. Bogosian's venomously funny play, which he adapted himself for the screen, is given warmth and generosity by Mr. Linklater, whose elegantly fluid direction and great skill with actors are accentuated by the play's spareness.

Extremely fond of this Richard Linklater gem. Great performances by all, a terrific opening sequence, and meticulous cinematography. I love a movie that takes place over one night or one day, especially when it is done as well as this. Also delivers one of my favorite morally ambiguous characters of all time in Tim.

Nevertheless, the cast of mainly unknowns is so good, and Linklater is so adept at playing them off one another, that the two-hour running time never seems overextended.
