A stellar cast at the top of there game in a exceptional film based on true events. Not a easy topic to cover but handled brilliantly by the writer and directed to perfection by tom mccarthy. True stories seem to be getting more popular with Hollywood now but if there as good as this, please keep them coming

I cant even imagine how hard it is to create a movie revolving around this topic without beening condescending and somehow they did it. Spotlight is gray and realistic depiction of jurnalist work, that was created in such a way that it keeps you captiveted from beggining to the very end.

This is a must watch. This real story of the mass cover ups by the catholic church of rape and molestation is a story that needs to be heard, and this movie is a machine that is optimized to get the job done. There is no directorial flair, no amazing shots, no real theme even, but a simple presentation so that you are drawn into the realness of the story. The stellar cast plays as a true ensemble, with every character given their own attachment to the issue. They each mirror some portion of society, so everyone has someone to relate to. The characters show emotion, not the storytelling, which allows you to empathize where you can, and you're not forced to have an opinion. The story telling is done in a slow burn, gradually allowing you to understand the magnitude of the issue, make a difficult pill easier to swallow. This is a movie with a mission, that is reporting the story, not giving a spin on it, mirroring the investigative journalism it depicts.

A quietly captivating film that tracks impeccable journalists who slowly begin to realise the extent of human depravity and begin to hear the once-silent sins of a formidable institution screaming from within. Top-notch acting and direction makes this a tense yet understated example of film excellence.
