Nostalgic & fun! I really enjoyed this film. Although there were spots where the Manchester accents forced me listen very hard, I was swept up by this story of teenage love, friendship and rock and roll. Elliott Tittensor was excellent as the likable lead with a moving back story. And Emilia Clarke, of course, was gorgeous in her ingenue role. The acting was strong across the board. Loved the music too! Brought me back to my younger days. The film is not-rated but I'd give it an R rating for abundance of F-bombs and expected references to drugs and sex.

Taking its cue from the sort of pandering nostalgia that usually gets peddled to Baby Boomers, Mat Whitecross' irritating Spike Island follows a teenage gang of the Stone Roses' superfans in 1990 Manchester.

There's a terrific blast of nostalgia in this finely crafted film, which will probably make it a hit for Stone Roses fans, but it's so jaggedly edited that the plot is almost impenetrable.

For the acting 3 stars, story Ok. But the script truly let it down, lacked direction, which could of definitely should have avoided greatness badly.
