The film is worth watching just to see how the story is adapted, and for the elements that give it a National Geographic flair.

Dennis Harvey 27 Jan 2006

Son of Man boils down the life of Jesus Christ to 86 concise minutes, restoring layers of political motivation largely absent from The Passion of the Christ and adding stirring original vocal music.

Richard B 12 Nov 2007

A great retelling of the Christ as a political insurgent rather than divine holy man. Avoids an obvious ending with a powerful twist on the crucifiction.

Dorothy Woodend 22 Aug 2017

This film is stunningly beautiful, and the fact that Jesus' experiences fit so perfectly into the contemporary black township points to the inherently political nature of this story.

The setting and music gives it some flavor while the characterizations might take a bit of a back seat. Dare I say it, it's more interesting than Pasolini's movie.
