Ewan McGregor is one of the most underrated actors out there today. He is one of those guys who can take an average film and take it one step forward, as he does in Son of a Gun.

Damien Straker 14 Oct 2014

Appropriately visceral, purposely cast and staged with memorable action sequences.

Mike D'Angelo 22 Jan 2015

Unfortunately, this promising material turns out to be merely the setup for a thoroughly generic action flick in which a gang of thieves without much honor attempt to pull off one last big heist. In the long, dispiriting slide to mediocrity thereafter, McGregor largely relapses into cute-rascal mode.

Like a Grand Theft Auto movie based in Australia.

Excellent Aussie prison/crime thriller. Ewan McGregor should play more bad guys.
