Simon Killer is hypnotic, stylish, and has a killer soundtrack, but it's style over substance. Clearly. Brady Corbet and Mati Diop are fabulous, but Antonio Campos tries too hard to make this an artsy, sensory overload experience. It's just dull and oftentimes very unwatchable.

An interesting look into the mind of an awful person, who sees themselves as a good person. This character study slowly unwraps the true nature of the protagonist, but it hints at its twists too heavily, giving away plot points while, at the same time, overly-sexualizing the characters when it should be building plot.

Though the film’s ice-cold blend of the cerebral and the atavistic can be off-putting, it enables a queasy portrait of moral disengagement that lingers long after Simon has slipped from the screen.
