Silkwood (1983)

Like most of the people in her town, Karen Silkwood works at the local nuclear plant producing highly radioactive plutonium. Exposed one day to a lethal dose of radiation, Karen faces the blank walls of corporate indifference and denial. As her illness increases, her protest grows louder and she becomes an obvious danger to the powers that be.

Meryl Streep did an awesome job in this true story of Karen Silkwood. I would definitely recommend it if true stories are what interest you.

wow! i was really impressed by this movie! i particularly like how the scenes of the three roommates at the house are blocked and shot, how they flow very naturally. and i also enjoyed the chemistry between meryl, cher and kurt. it is not an easy movie to watch but it's such an acting lesson...

Streep, Russell, and Cher all give wonderful, heartfelt performances. Streep merely gets swallowed into the script and totally becomes Karen Silkwood. The final scene in slow motion with Streep singing "Amazing Grace" and driving off from Russell's house is a tearjerker. Watch this movie.
