A Dog's Life is a brilliant pre-cursor to The Kid. Shoulder Arms is hillarious and includes his half brother Syd Chaplin. People don't realise Chaplin wrote, produced, directed, starred and composed music for all his films. We will never see a genius like him again.

Actually, THIS is my favourite Chaplin film. The part when he is dressed as a tree is a right hoot. A very, very funny film.

One of the few movies made about World War I, this is a comic gem among the short films of that era. Made as a moral booster for the fighting soldiers in 1918, it came late in the war, but many soldiers praised its realistic portrayal of the battlefield and integration of humor in a war situation. One of my favorite of Chaplin's shorts and worth a few dozen laughs at least.

Chaplin was one of the richest people on the planet. He was also the very first true auteur in cinema. As well as the first major movie star. Not too bad. Here's some more classic Chaplin.
