Sector 7 (2011)

In Sector 7, an underwater oil field located south of Jeju Island, Hae-jun is working as a marine equipment manager on an oil prospecting ship called Eclipse. Joining the crew later is Jeong-man, a former colleague of Hae-jun's father, assigned to Eclipse as captain. Though his job is to oversee the withdrawal of the ship, he suggests conducting some drilling one last time.

Surprisingly good film, especially given the terrible reception. Some of the shots are laughably bad, but the fire and monster effects are awesome. The mystery and heroic bloodshed elements play and the direction is striking. No, it's not The Host, but it's a damn fine monster movie that fans of the genre shouldn't miss.

It's not good it's a bad movie. Think of it as a stylized Korean parody of every bad Hollywood monster movie of the last 2 decades and to top it off apparently this is the 1st film they've made with current 3d tech. So expect a lot of things coming right at ya.

Given a higher budget and a better writer this could of been so much better. It was a nice little creature feature though. The monster was inventive for what they worked with. If they spent enough to keep it real looking through out instead of the ending it would of brought the film higher. The last 20 mins are pretty good action. All in all not a bad watch.

Sector 7 does nothing to further a genre with vast boundaries, focusing more on copying past films than producing B-Movie glory.
