It is 1595. Brutal wars have just ended in an uneasy peace between Protestant Sweden and Orthodox Russia. We focus on the spiritual defeats of two conquered Finnish brothers, one a hardened near-psychopathic war hero, the other a gentle scientist in an age with no use for such men. They find themselves in the swampy interior, demarcating the new border with a unit of sadistic Russians.

Not bad at all, but it lacks some consistency

Solid horror with a nice mystique about it. Just don't lose your way out there in the wild ;) Oh BTW, I think both the finnish and russian languages are like made for horror and tales of dark times. They can sound most colorful (even though I speak neither of them). Had this movie been made in english or swedish - well I don't know if I'd felt that same creeping fear ;)

it's got the A-J Annila charm as Jade Warrior (Jadesoturi) but there's just something missing.. I still loved the idea of Finland (Suomi) being a place with a magical sauna.. a concrete sauna (as in, made of concrete and something that isn't merely an abstraction of an idea..) still.. as far as horror movies go.. I was a bit disappointed.
