Sarvam (2009)

The film revolves around five individual characters and the events in their life, that, on the one hand, changes everything in their respective lives, which the film's title refers to, and, on the other hand, also brings together these people. It is an anthology film, that contains two parallel moving stories, which are connected by a freak accident in Chennai. A young architect, falls in love with a young beautiful pediatric doctor, runs after her and tries to convince her to marry her, while, simultaneously, a morose ex-football coach troubles a software engineer by vowing to kill his eight-year-old son. How these characters get connected and confronted through the accident forms the crux of the story.

Apart from the usual commercial contents like misplaced songs and hero winning over villain kind of stuffs, Sarvam can still be considered as a brave attempt from Vishnuvardhan. Though the main theme of the movie was copied from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's '21 grams', the director cleverly merges the parallel stories around it, making it kind of interesting to watch. This movie employs linear style film-making which differs from 21-grams and thus making it more predictable. Romance between Arya and Trisha was pictured perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their chemistry. There is one scene where Arya breaks down after knowing Trisha accident, it was cleverly handled. On the performance front, both Arya and Trisha were excellent. Chakravarthy did well too. On the whole, it was a good watch. 3/5

Am empty movie with amazing cinematography
