One part Bresson's Mouchette (which in my opinion it improves upon) one part Ken Loach, Rosetta is ultra-realism in every area; from the brilliant hand held camerawork, the long takes and invisibility of the editing and the absense of score to the unflinching and commited performances. Emilie Dequenne is incredible as Rosetta, a character that is complicated and complex performed with such verve and bravery.

Ecco una lezione di Dogma per chi il Dogma l'ha inventato, Lars Von Trier. Racconto estremo ed entomologico sulla disperazione di una ragazzina belga che abita in una roulotte con la madre ubriaca e prostituta, cerca disperatamente lavoro a costo di tradire il ragazzo che l'ha sempre aiutata ma che non la abbandonerà mai. L'amarezza che circonda il film sembra inesorabile e un filo di speranza rimane solo nell'ultima, irrisolta scena. Il senso di miseria a povertà è a dir poco coinvolgente. Notevole interpretazione di Emilie Dequenne.
