Roman Holiday (1953)

Overwhelmed by her suffocating schedule, touring European princess Ann takes off for a night while in Rome. When a sedative she took from her doctor kicks in, however, she falls asleep on a park bench and is found by an American reporter, Joe Bradley, who takes her back to his apartment for safety. At work the next morning, Joe finds out Ann's regal identity and bets his editor he can get exclusive interview with her, but romance soon gets in the way.

Impeccable character arcs combined with great actors and direction creates a near perfect film, and a delighting 2 hours.

A light-hearted and innocent rom-com that set the bar for movies to come. With such an age, "Roman Holiday" should, by every right, be considered a conventional and cliche movie, but it surpasses due to its palpable and saturated chemistry and genuinely hilarious moments. You've got strong writing here, you got incredible performances, and you got ingeniously creative moments. How come the rom-coms that come out in 2012 is worse than a 1953 flick? I guess Hollywood never learns to adapt.

Well, I never get enough of classic romantic movies... and this one was quite exceptional. Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck gave an outstanding performance. I loved the ending very much. *spoiler* I guess that was the first time i didn't feel bad the two main character didn't end up together. I usually hate it when that happen.

Beautiful, sad, touching and captivating. Two people abandon society's expectations for a moment of escape. Hepburn's performance is incredible and the relationship that develops between her and Peck is unbelievable. I honestly didn't know how they would sell me on the idea of his character being redeemable or her knowing the truth about him without painting an ugly picture about their whole affair. But when you realize he has been going along and doing what's expected of him this whole time, only to have a moment like she has had this whole day--to realize he doesn't have to be this thing he's become. And almost the entire final act hitting hardest when not a single word was said. This film is freaking incredible.
