Rich and Strange (1931)

Strange indeed. This came across more a romance than the thriller that I expect from Hitchcock. Rather predictible.

ANYTHING BY HITCHCOCK IS GUARANTEED TO BE GOOD AND THIS IS NO EXCEPTION. IT DOES SHOW ITS AGE, BUT IT IS A FINE FILM NONE THE LESS WITH THE DIRECTOR'S TRADEMARK TOUCHES THROUGHOUT

Rich and Strange is a strangely put together film, although it does point out some of the strange things and people you run into when one is rich.

an early example of Hitch's style of black humour, which obviously fell flat on its behind at the time, also the film seems to grapple with the oncoming phenomena of 'the talkie' by its precarious use of sound and intertitles for quite inconsequential reasons, still it's Hitchock drama

Truly a strange film, but it lacks the urgency of Hitchcock's other films. A dissapointment.
