FOR ANYONE THAT HAS NOT HEARD THE MUSIC OF GEORGE GERSHWIN... THIS MOVIE IS A MUST SEE MOVIE... TO UNDERSTAND THE LIVE AN TIMES OF GEORGE GERSHWIN I RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE... AND OF COURSE.. THE EVERLASTING MUSIC OF GEORGE GERSHWIN.. MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG IS THE SAME AS THIS MOVIE " RHAPSODY IN BLUE... SO YOU KNOW TRULY BEAUTIFUL THINGS MAKES ME CRY.. AND THIS IS TRULY THE MOST BEAUTIFUL OF HIS MUSIC... ENJOY THIS MOVIE

In this movie, real history, in the form of the people who actually knew George Gershwin and performed his music, makes a bigger and truer impression than the Hollywood fabrications.

George Gershwin has wonderful story, and he played brilliantly by Robert Alda, Alan Alda's father. The music is breathtaking, as is 1940's New York. Highly recommended.

The music is glorious, but the biopic is pedestrian and fictionlaized to a fault, and Robert Alda as the genius George Gerhsiwn is too bland
