Revolt could be said that is a combination between Rambo, The Walking Dead and a generic science fiction movie, but it does not achieve anything, staying halfway. The story is very cliche, the characters are not interesting at all, there are incongruous data (such as the fact that in one scene a robot resisted 3 missiles but then later people knocked it down), or a lot of unexplained things! Why did the ship capture people? How did the invasion start and why? Why was Bo locked in a cage? Why the robots choose him? Why did they put that "device" on? It is a shame! The only thing that more or less saves him are certain moments of action, but nothing more.

Revolt is a cut above its brethren and one that you should give some time to.

Just watch blombcamps 'Rakka' or anything else by studio oats because this is just a poor version of what he's doing, independently, I might add. Its not horrible and sometimes touching and fun, in a splatterfest way. The acting was ok with a halfway solid cast. Dialog and story wise its not going to be anything new but some of the shots in this are very clever. Here's the thing. Its half a movie. Throw away characters at every turn (sometimes in pretty cool ways). Nothing is ever explained. One of the main characters just up and disappears halfway through the movie (no pun intended). And the "leading man" really cant hold it on his own. I really like the setting and the backdrop of east Africa and the effects were passable. I'm sure there was meant to be more to this story but either time/money hacked into this VERY noticeably. You wanna watch big weird robots blast people to smithereens with no explanation. This is it.

Good movie! Some things are a bit cliche, but it's done well enough and the whole package is entertaining, leaving me satisfied with a high quality sci fi alien survival film. Good special effects, characters and acting!

An action-packed third act gives way to a bit of an anti-climactic ending. But it all moves so fast, furiously and unfussily that genre fans should be satisfied.
