An exuberant, exhilaratingly playful testament to being young and hungry -- for life and meaning and immortality, and for other young and restless bodies -- Reprise is a blast of unadulterated movie pleasure.

I don't know much about contemporary Norwegian cinema, but this film completely kicked my ass. This is a gorgeously shot, delicately woven story of friendship, competition, love, and struggling into your early twenties. A refreshing and truly exciting debut feature from Joachim Trier. While this one was released in Norway in 2006, it did not see a US release until earlier this year thanks to a partnership between Miramax and Netflix. Unquestionably one of the best films I've seen in 2008.

Smart and effervescent little Norwegian film about two twentysomething aspiring novelists in hip young Oslo who scribble their way through success, failure, love and friendship. Directed by Lars Von Trier's nephew, Joachim Trier. A very cool and sensitive film that reminded me of Truffaut's Jules et Jim.

I really enjoyed this movie. The texture was really impressive - lots of overlapping cinematography, time jumping, and interesting editing. The characters are quietly tense, full of emotion but completely suppressed...you still felt it though. Anders Danielsen Lie (Phillip) was phenomenal in the lead role. Lots of Heideggar references (ask my philosopher husband) like the counting backwards.

Wonderful film, likely one of the best I'll see this year.
