Danny Strong’s film, which stars Nicholas Hoult as Salinger...isn’t terrible; it’s just one of those period films that never catches a spark — you find yourself admiring the elegantly lit rooms and the meticulous 1940s costumes, rather than becoming immersed in the drama.

Excellent movie about a difficult subject. If it weren't for WWII, J. D. Salinger's life would've been, in appearance, the most boring ever. But in his head were the thoughts and feelings we all shared and he had the unique talent to express it perfectly. As a fan, it's almost embarrassing to be interested in his personal life when he so desperately wanted to stay separate from Holden Caulfield. As a pennance I will read the book for the nth time.

I absolutely loved this film; a fascinating understanding of the life of JD Salinger and how his famous book came to be. I was stunned to learn so much about his life, his struggles with PTSD and his dedication to the art of storytelling. The film includes stand out performances by Nicholas Hoult. Kevin Spacey, and Sarah Paulson to name a few. I adored this film and can't wait to see it again!!
