INCREDIBLE acting, really. The shots are very unique, and the fact that the only music in the movie is actually played by characters in the movie is really cool in my opinion. Some scenes drag on as Demme wanted to really convey the sense of fellowship and diversity at weddings and amongst family and friends, but overall the pacing in my mind is good

Rachel Getting Married is depressing as well as memorable, while the ensemble cast, led by Anne Hathaway's fantastic performance, is so real and natural. Jonathan Demme's direction is brilliant, and Jenny Lumet's script never loses its cleverness and rawness.

After a few lackluster remakes Demme taps back into that quirky way that he has and it's a relief. This is not a director who is built for the big, safe Hollywood blockbuster. It just doesn't match his temperament.
