Querelle (1982)

French sailor Querelle arrives in Brest and starts frequenting a strange whorehouse. He discovers that his brother Robert is the lover of the lady owner, Lysiane. Here, you can play dice with Nono, Lysiane's husband: if you win, you are allowed to make love with Lysiane; if you lose, you have to make love with Nono... Querelle loses on purpose.

Definitely a classic among the classics! Praised as the prototype of the queer cinemas, Querelle is an all time masterpiece. Be sure to check this film more than once, because the more time you view it the more you would likely to discover the true emotion underneath the surface...

Except for some things that Miss Moreau does, Querelle is not only humorless but also uncharacteristically witless.

Ultimo film del regista. Querelle è l?ultimo personaggio che crea, tratto da romanzo di Jean Genet. Un marinaio che scopre di essere omosessuale e le vicende della vita lo portano in un giro losco di affari, la scenografia è quella teatrale con colori caldi e immagini ferme. Non c?è una tematica sociale di fondo in questo film per questo molti lo hanno definito come un opera puramente manieristica.

amazing, recently discovered this in Athens............ very iconicly gay and crazy but such a good film! French do it better!!
